This cut-out pendant looks to us to be inspired by the geometry of a traditional Celtic triquetra knot. The triquetra's overall triangular shape becomes a design module here for not only the pendant's six-sided hexagonal form but also its division into six equal wedges.

The two outer points of each triquetra are modified to become the straight border that defines each wedge. The center of each 'triquetra' is also enhanced with an additional Celtic-inspired knot that gives the pendant a slightly floral look. Starburst-like straight lines, recessed and darkened, keep the wedges distinct from one another and help give the pendant a geometry that is a foil for the Celtic curves.

All the the knots are cut-out, while the pendant's dome shape creates a dark shadow underneath the pendant, both having the effect of accentuating the knots.
